England wing Jack Nowell returns to Exeter’s starting line-up after two months out with a thigh injury.
The 23-year-old also missed the start of the season after having surgery on his thumb.
After making only one appearance for the Chiefs this term, he suffered a significant tear in his quad at an England training camp in early October.
But he came through a 50 minute run-out for Exeter’s ‘A team’, the Braves, on Monday night.
England team-mate Henry Slade returns from international duty, while Ben Moon, Tomas Francis, Jonny Hill, Dave Ewers and Dave Dennis all start in the Chiefs’ pack, with Jack Maunder at scrum-half.
Exeter are bottom of Pool Five and are yet to register a win in the Champions Cup this season.
Sunday’s opponents Bordeaux-Begles have made 10 changes from the side that lost to Toulon in the Top 14 last weekend, with Ireland fly-half Ian Madigan returning from a groin injury.
“We need to win and probably have to chase a bonus point as well,” said Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter.
“That’s where we are are right now and it is what it is. That’s down to us not picking up results in the earlier two rounds and other teams playing well to beat us.”
