Pistons' Griffin to miss week with ankle injury

Detroit Pistons forward Blake Griffin will miss at least a week after he was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right ankle, the team announced Friday.

Griffin was a late scratch for the Pistons’ 103-92 win over the Washington Wizards on Thursday. He underwent an MRI on Thursday night, which revealed the bone bruise.

The team announced that Griffin will be re-evaluated in a week to determine his availability.

Griffin is averaging 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game since being traded to Detroit on Jan. 29.

With seven games to play, the Pistons trail the Milwaukee Bucks by five games in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
