Hull FC maintained their outside hopes of a Super League top-four place by narrowly beating bottom club Widnes.

The Black and Whites led 16-12 at the break before being pegged back to 24-24 in a nine-try thriller.

But Bureta Faraimo’s late try was converted by Jake Connor, who then added a drop goal to secure victory by completing an 11-point individual haul.

Albert Kelly, Hakium Miloudi, Liam Harris and Carlos Tuimavave all crossed for fifth-placed Hull.

Widnes, whose four tries came from Charly Runciman, Owen Buckley, Sam Wilde and Jay Chapelhow, are now five points adrift of Hull KR, who hammered Huddersfield.
