Sabres' Bogosian out weeks with knee sprain

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian is out indefinitely with a sprained ligament in one of his knees.

Coach Dan Bylsma said Bogosian sprained his MCL and will miss several weeks. Bylsma provided the update Thursday, before the Sabres host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bogosian was hurt in the first period of Buffalo’s 2-1 win at Minnesota on Tuesday.

He is a top-four defenseman who has zero points in nine games and is averaging less than 19 minutes of ice time per outing.

The Sabres are already missing two top-line forwards: Jack Eichel (sprained left ankle) and Evander Kane (broken ribs).
