Head coach Steve Kerr made the announcement during his pregame media address.
Curry did not partake in shootaround Monday morning. He initially was ruled questionable to play by the Warriors. Shaun Livingston will start instead of Curry.
The two-time NBA MVP suffered the injury early in the first quarter of Saturday’s home win over the Philadelphia 76ers when he took a knee to the thigh. He played through the pain but was seen hobbling minimally following the contest.
Kerr said the decision was a no-brainer to allow Curry to rest as a precautionary measure. He said it’s not a serious situation. It will be the first game Curry has missed all season.
Golden State has won a conference-high six straight games, beating opponents in that span by an average of 21.5 points.
In 13 games this season, Curry is posting averages of 25.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists, and he is shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc.
