Talks continue on new CBA as deadline nears

With a midnight deadline to reach a labor agreement, no lockout vote has been scheduled for Wednesday night. Owners have been told by MLB to be available, however, in case there’s a need for a vote on whether to lock out the players, or to ratify a deal or for an update on where the two sides stand.

The sides have been negotiating almost continuously since early Tuesday, and are still talking Wednesday on little or no sleep. They’ve made significant progress, but have yet to reach agreement on how a revised Competitive Balance Tax (aka, luxury tax) would function.
